Nightly Closures of the Interstate 89 Exit 16 North On-ramp Starting TONIGHT, Tuesday, June 30, through the morning of Thursday, July 2

COLCHESTER, VT: Starting tonight, Tuesday, June 30, and continuing through the morning of Thursday, July 2, the Interstate 89 (I-89) Exit 16 North on-ramp will be fully closed for ramp reconstruction. Tonight, Tuesday, June 30, starting at 9 PM through Wednesday, July 1, at 6 AM, the I-89 Exit 16 North on-ramp will be closed for the removal of asphalt and boxcutting. The ramp will reopen during the day on Wednesday between 6 AM and 9 PM but will be reduced to gravel. Starting Wednesday, July 1, at 9 PM, the I-89 Exit 16 North on-ramp will reclose for paving. The ramp will reopen on Thursday, July 2, by 6 AM. Motorists should slow down, use caution, and follow traffic control personnel's instructions and signage.
During the nightly closures, motorists seeking to travel northbound on I-89 will be detoured to Exit 17 in Colchester. Motorists will be directed to continue northbound along U.S. 2/7 toward the Chimney Corner intersection of U.S. 2 and U.S. 7, west on U.S. 2 toward the Champlain Islands, and take the I-89 North on-ramp at Exit 17. Signage and message boards will be posted near Exit 16 and along the detour route to guide motorists. Additionally, motorists may choose to seek alternative routes.
