SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Crews will be off the roadway by noon today, November 26, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Work will resume in the project area on Monday, December 1.

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, December 1, through Friday, December 5, between 6 AM and 3 PM, U.S. Route 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) will have lane closures between Interstate 89 (I-89) and Rathe Road (the Park and Ride) for drainage work. In addition, Wednesday through Friday, between 6 AM and 3 PM, intermittent blasting events will require U.S. 2/7 between Rathe Road and Hercules Drive and all intersecting sideroads to be shut down for approximately 10 minutes. In addition, independent utility companies are on-site conducting utility work along U.S. 2/7 throughout the project limits under lane closures.

Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, leaving plenty of additional time to get to and from your destination. Whenever possible, consider alternate routes or other forms of transportation such as carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and road signs.

City of Winooski Project – Main Street Revitalization

  • Project Area: Main Street in Winooski, between the railroad bridge near Maple Street and the Colchester town line near Checkerbay Carwash
  • Next week: Crews will conduct general cleanup and demobilize construction equipment and materials in preparation for the winter shutdown. Starting mid-week, crews will install streetlights, including wiring, on Main Street between Stevens Street and Bellevue Street.
