TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, March 2, through Friday, March 6, between 6 AM and 3 PM, lane closures and lane shifts will be in effect:
- on the east side of U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) between South Park Drive and the Interstate 89 (I-89) northbound off-ramp,
- on the west side of U.S. 2/7 between Hercules Drive and Rathe Road, and,
- on Rathe Road near its intersection with U.S. 2/7.
In addition, daytime blasting will require traffic stoppages for approximately 10 minutes in the following locations:
- U.S. 2/7 between Hercules Drive and Rathe Road,
- Rathe Road near U.S. 2/7, and,
- nearby intersecting side roads.
One blasting event is expected each day, with the possibility of up to two. To learn more about traffic impacts related to blasting activities, click here.
Independent utility companies will periodically conduct work along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road, under lane closures.
Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, consider alternative routes, or use other forms of transportation (carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking). Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and signage.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Crews will begin drilling to remove ledge along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 Exit 16 southbound on‑ramp. Crews will also remove the existing barrier around the I‑89 bridge pier on the east side of U.S. 2/7.
Drainage work will continue along U.S. 2/7 between Hercules Drive and Rathe Road.
Beginning Monday, crews will resume blasting activities, starting on U.S. 2/7 between Hercules Drive and Rathe Road while drilling occurs on Rathe Road near U.S. 7. For the remainder of the week, drilling and blasting are expected to take place primarily on Rathe Road near U.S. 7.
Independent utility work will continue periodically along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road.
