Weekly Construction Update 3/24/2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:

Crews will be onsite Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Traffic impacts will be restricted to the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Starting Monday, March 27, and continuing through next week, crews will be working behind the bridge piers on the west side of U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) under the interstate bridges. This work will be completed under a lane closure and lane width reduction.

This work will require the closure of the outermost southbound lane on U.S. 2/7. In addition, lane width reductions along the I-89 southbound offramp and northbound onramp on the west side of U.S. 2/7 will be in effect. The I-89 ramps will remain open.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:  

Crews will continue removing ledge and other materials in the area behind the bridge piers on the west side of U.S. 2/7 under the interstate bridges over the to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall. Crews will be drilling in the area in preparation of blasting activities which will being Monday, April 3. This work will be completed under a lane closure of the outer southbound travel lane on U.S. 2/7 and lane width reduction on the I-89 southbound offramp and northbound onramp. Sawcutting of trench lines for the installation of new drainage infrastructure.

LOCATION: U.S. 2/7 in Colchester starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: Contract 1 Spring 2024, Contract 2 Summer 2026
