Nightly Closures of the Interstate 89 Exit 16 North Off-ramp Starting TONIGHT, Sunday, July 5, through the Morning of Tuesday, July 7

COLCHESTER, VT: Starting tonight, Sunday, July 5, and continuing through the morning of Tuesday, July 7, the Interstate 89 (I-89) Exit 16 North off-ramp will be fully closed at night for ramp reconstruction. Tonight, Sunday, July 5, starting at 9 PM through Monday, July 6, at 6 AM, the I-89 Exit 16 North off-ramp will be closed for the removal of asphalt and boxcutting. The ramp will reopen during the day on Monday between 6 AM and 9 PM. This work will continue on Monday night, with the ramp reclosing at 9 PM on Monday, July 6, through Tuesday, July 7 at 6 AM. The ramp will reopen between Tuesday morning and the start of paving activities Thursday evening. The ramp will be reduced to gravel until it is repaved overnight on Thursday, July 9.
During the nightly closures, motorists traveling northbound along I-89 seeking to exit the interstate at Exit 16 will be detoured to Exit 17 in Colchester. At the Exit 17 interchange, motorists will be directed to travel east on U.S. Route 2 (U.S. 2) toward the Chimney Corner intersection of U.S. 2 and U.S. Route 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) before following U.S. 2/7 south toward the Exit 16 interchange. Signage and message boards will be posted near Exit 16 and along the detour route to guide motorists. Additionally, motorists may choose to seek alternative routes.
