SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Crews will be off-site by 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, in observance of Independence Day (Fourth of July) and will return to the project area on Sunday night, July 5.
TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: Nightly, starting the evening of Sunday, June 28, through the morning of Thursday, July 2, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., unless otherwise noted:
- Lane closures along the west side of U.S. Route 2/7 (U.S. 2/7), the southbound lanes, between the Interstate 89 (I-89) North ramps and Mountain View Drive, with two-way traffic maintained through traffic shifts onto the east side of U.S. 2/7.
- Lane closures and shifts on Lower Mountain View Drive and Upper Mountain View Drive with flagging operations at the Mountain View Drive and U.S. 2/7 intersection.
- On Sunday and Monday night, lane closures with traffic shifts on U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 overpass bridges for paving.
- The I-89 Exit 16 North on-ramp will be fully closed at night from 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, through 6 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, and again at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, until 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, for boxcutting and paving. Motorists seeking to travel northbound on I-89 will be detoured via U.S. Route 2/7 to Exit 17 in Colchester or should seek alternative routes. A supplemental Traffic Alert will be issued prior to the overnight ramp closure with more information.
Daily, starting the morning of Monday, June 29, through the afternoon of Thursday, July 2, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted:
- Single-lane closures at the intersections of U.S. 2/7 with Mountain View Drive, Hercules Drive, and Rathe Road, with two-way traffic maintained.
Please be advised that portions of U.S. 2/7 will be reduced to a gravel surface starting Sunday night through Thursday morning. Motorists should slow down, use caution, and follow traffic control personnel's instructions and signage. In addition, motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan additional travel time or consider alternative routes.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Nighttime work this week will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., starting the evening of Sunday, June 28, through the morning of Thursday, July 2. On Sunday and Monday nights, crews will continue removing asphalt and performing boxcutting along the west side of U.S. 2/7 (southbound) between the I-89 North ramps and Mountain View Drive. On Tuesday night, crews will remove asphalt and perform boxcutting along the I-89 Exit 16 North on-ramp. This work will temporarily reduce these sections of U.S. 2/7 and the ramp to gravel. The area will be repaved Wednesday night into Thursday morning. On Sunday and Monday nights, crews will pave the second lift along either side of U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 overpass bridges. Throughout the week, crews will install conduit sleeves for the new traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. 2/7 and Mountain View Drive.
Daytime work will take place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., starting the morning of Monday, June 29, through the afternoon of Thursday, July 2. Throughout the week, crews will install traffic signal infrastructure at the intersections of U.S. 2/7 with Hercules Drive and Rathe Road. Crews will also conduct roadway maintenance, streetlight pole base installation, and sidewalk preparatory work between the I-89 North ramps and Mountain View Drive.
