Weekly Construction Update - Friday, January 16, 2026
DATE: Friday, January 16, 2026
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, crews will be offsite on Monday, January 19, 2026.
TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Tuesday, January 20, through Friday, January 23, between 7 AM and 3 PM, lane closures and lane shifts will be in effect on Lower Mountain View Drive and Upper Mountain View Drive near their intersection with U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7). Later in the week, there is potential for a lane closure and shift on the east side of U.S. 2/7 near Starbucks, just south of Lower Mountain View Drive.
Independent utility companies will periodically be on-site conducting utility work along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road under lane closures.
Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, leaving plenty of additional time to get to and from your destination. Whenever possible, consider alternative routes or other forms of transportation, such as carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and road signs.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Next week, beginning Tuesday, crews will continue removing ledge and constructing a retaining wall on Lower Mountain View Drive near the U.S. 2/7 intersection. On Upper Mountain View Drive, they will shape a grass swale and clean up ledge following hammering work. Later in the week, the contractor may also begin stripping topsoil and grass and removing ledge along U.S. 2/7 near Starbucks, just south of Lower Mountain View Drive.
Independent utility work will periodically take place along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road.
