Weekly Construction Update - Friday, January 23, 2026

DATE: Friday, January 23, 2026

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, January 26, through Friday, January 30, between 6:30 AM and 3 PM, lane closures and lane shifts will be in effect on the east side of U.S. 2/7 in the vicinity of the Starbucks, Hampton Inn, and Lighthouse Restaurant, and on the west side, between the Park and Ride and Shaw’s. There will also be lane closures and lane shifts on Lower Mountain View Drive and Upper Mountain View Drive near their intersection with U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7).

Independent utility companies will periodically be on-site conducting utility work along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road under lane closures.

Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, leaving plenty of additional time to get to and from your destination. Whenever possible, consider alternative routes or other forms of transportation, such as carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and road signs.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Next week, drainage work will continue on the west side of U.S. 2/7 between the Park and Ride and Shaw’s. This includes installing new structures and grading for a grass channel. Excavation for road widening will begin on the east side of U.S. 2/7 between the Lighthouse Restaurant and Starbucks.

Crews will continue underdrain work on Lower Mountain View Drive, heading east past the Maplefields entrance. On Upper Mountain View Drive, they will shape a grass swale and clean up ledge following hammering work on the south side of the road. Crews will move to the north side of the road once work on the south side is completed.

Independent utility work will periodically take place along U.S. 2/7 between the Winooski town line and Sunderland Woods Road.

LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 in Colchester, starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.
