TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Nightly, starting the evening of Sunday, July 12, through the morning of Tuesday, July 14, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., unless otherwise noted:
- Lane closures along alternating sides of U.S. 2/7 between the Interstate 89 (I-89) overpass bridges and Mountain View Drive. Two-way traffic will be maintained with lane shifts.
Daily, starting the morning of Monday, July 13, through the afternoon of Friday, July 17, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted:
- Thursday, July 16, and Friday, July 17, single-lane closure on either side of U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive, with two-way traffic maintained.
- Independent utility companies will be conducting work along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 South ramps under single-lane closures on either side of U.S. 2/7, with two-way traffic maintained.
- Single-lane closure on the west side of U.S. 2/7 starting at Mountain View Drive and continuing north, with two-way traffic maintained.
- Intermittent lane closures at the intersections of U.S. 2/7 at the Exit 16 Interchange, Mountain View Drive, Hercules Drive, and Rathe Road, with two-way traffic maintained.
- Independent work is being completed by the Town of Colchester at the intersection of U.S. 2/7 and Hercules Drive under possible lane closures with flaggers.
Motorists should slow down, use caution, and follow traffic control personnel's instructions and signage. In addition, motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan additional travel time or consider alternative routes.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Nighttime work this week will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., starting the evening of Sunday, July 12, through the morning of Tuesday, July 14. On Sunday and Monday night, crews will pave a second lift of pavement along U.S. 2/7 between the I-89 overpass bridges and Mountain View Drive.
Daytime work will take place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., starting the morning of Monday, July 13, through the afternoon of Friday, July 17. Throughout the week, crews will begin roadway widening, installing conduit, and prepping sidewalk starting at Mountain View Drive working north. Later next week, curb installation is anticipated to take place along U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive. In addition, East Coast Signals will be onsite completing traffic signal work at signalized intersections throughout the project area. Independent utility work will take place throughout the week, with Green Mountain Power on-site to relocate utility poles along either side of U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 South ramps. Additional independent work will be conducted by the Town of Colchester at the intersection of Hercules Drive and U.S. 2/7.

VTrans Colchester Exit 17 Project
- Project Area: I-89 Exit 17, U.S. 7 between the Shell Gas Station and Wiley Road, U.S. 2 between Chimney Corner and Jasper Mine Road
- Next week: There is potential for crews to be on-site next week to complete minor ditching and signage installation on U.S. 7 between the Shell Gas Station and Wiley Road.
- Traffic Impacts:
- Weekdays, 6 AM – 8 PM | Minimal to no traffic impacts are anticipated during this work. Potential for shoulder closure and lane shift on U.S. 7 between Wiley Road and the Chimney Corner intersection with U.S. 2.

City of Winooski Main Street Revitalization Project
- Project Area: Main Street in Winooski, between the railroad bridge near Maple Street and the Colchester town line near Checkerbay Carwash
- Next week: Crews will pave the final wearing course of asphalt on Main Street between Stevens Street and the Winooski-Colchester town line, including the Stevens Street, Lafountain Street, Burling Street, and Bellevue Street intersections, Monday through Wednesday. Throughout the week, overhead utility wires and poles on Main Street will be removed. Traffic signal work is anticipated to resume at the Main Street and Spring Street intersection mid-week, and potentially at the Winooski Fire Department late next week.
- Traffic Impacts:
- Monday – Wednesday, 6 AM to 7 PM | Main Street between Stevens Street and Tigan Street will be reduced to a single lane during paving, allowing northbound traffic only. This segment of Main Street will have on-street parking restrictions and lane shifts. Main Street southbound traffic north of Tigan Street will be detoured via Tigan Street, Weaver Street, and West Spring Street. The lane closure and detour will be removed at the end of each workday. Signage will be in place to guide drivers. Main Street between Tigan Street and the Winooski/Colchester town line will have intermittent lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers. The intersections of Stevens Street, Lafountain Street, Burling Street, and Bellevue Street with Main Street will be closed intermittently. Each intersection will reopen once paving moves past. On-street parking will be restricted along these side streets near Main Street, marked with cones and signage.
- Monday – Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM | Parking restrictions, lane reductions, and traffic shifts on Main Street between Maple Street and Stevens Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained, with potential for flagging. Restricted parking areas will be marked with cones and signage.
